Specific Surface Area
Specific surface area is one of the most important performance indicators of activated carbon, typically measured in m²/g. It reflects the porosity and adsorption capacity of activated carbon. The larger the specific surface area, the stronger the adsorption capacity. The common specific surface area range for activated carbon is between 500-1300 m²/g. Powdered activated carbon typically has a larger specific surface area due to its finer pores and larger internal surface area exposed to gases or liquids, thus providing more adsorption sites.
